Medical Laboratory Scientist

Houston Methodist is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform complex diagnostic testing that supports high-quality, patient-centered care. In this role, you will analyze specimens across core lab disciplines, validate and report results, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure accuracy and timeliness. You'll maintain strict quality and safety standards, support regulatory compliance, and collaborate with physicians and nurses to guide clinical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids across core laboratory disciplines
• Ensure accurate, timely analysis, validation, and reporting of laboratory results to support clinical decisions
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and analyzers
• Follow strict quality control, safety, and infection-prevention protocols in compliance with CLIA and CAP standards
• Document procedures, results, and quality activities in the laboratory information system (LIS)
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians to clarify orders and interpret critical results
• Participate in training, competency assessments, and continuous education to support professional growth
• Contribute to process improvement, standard operating procedures, and readiness for regulatory inspections
