Maintenance Tech (2nd Shift)
Location:
Houston, TX
Schedule:
Full Time | M-F 6:00 am–2:30 pm for 3 months to train, then 12:00 pm–8:00 pm
FLSA Status:
Nonexempt
Reports to:
Maintenance Manager
$16.00 – $23.50 per hour
About the RoleThe Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of machinery, equipment, and systems within our cold storage facility. This role requires a hands‑on approach to troubleshooting and resolving issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
What You’ll Do- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on machinery, equipment, and systems, including refrigeration units, conveyors, and material handling equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration issues to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance tasks, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager and other team members to prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks.
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimize operational disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Experience: Minimum of 2‑3 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a cold storage or similar environment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Certifications: HACCP, BRC required; OSHA certification a plus.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
- Ability to work in cold storage environments as low as –10 °F.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
