Extruder Operator

Job Summary

Resource Group is looking for an Extruder Operator at its Manufacturing Plant in Baytown, TX. The Operator will run online extruders, twin screw extruders, quality testing equipment, blend preparation, feed setup, packaging, and storage. Responsibilities include quality testing, recording data, housekeeping, throughput maximization, and assisting in supporting areas. The role reports to the Production Team Lead and collaborates across departments.

• Set up and operate all extrusion lines in the department.
• Establish process parameters for new products, experimental products, and R&D runs.
• Set up raw materials for masterbatch production.
• Operate production equipment for the extrusion lines, including twin screw extruder, feed system, raw materials conveying system, silo conveying system, pelletizer, and filling system.
• Perform rounds at specified intervals to ensure optimum operation of the compounding processes.
• Achieve and maintain extruder cycle times and process parameters.
• Clean extrusion line equipment to prevent contamination during changeovers.
• Understand proper response to process alarms and process conditions.
• Prepare boxes/liners, complete packaging requirements, and deliver to storage area.
• Take initiative in leadership responsibilities such as scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, setup reduction, and continuous improvement.
• Fulfill any other reasonable responsibilities as identified by a team lead or site leadership.
• Participate in ISO internal audits and maintain department Key Performance Indicators.
• Write standard work orders in the computerized maintenance management system and perform LOTO.
• Perform QC tasks such as magnet checks, inspection of date codes, item numbers, dump logs, equipment attributes, extruder and dryer system process control checks.
• Be available to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
• Maintain open communication with other personnel and functional groups.
• Keep site leadership informed of status and progress.
• Maintain professional conduct, attendance, and ethical standards per company policies.
• Fulfill mandatory training requirements applicable to the department.
• Ensure documentation is accurate and concise.

Pay $22-24/hr
