The Mill Helper shall assist in the pipe production by handling various functions of the pipe mill and ensure its continuous operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.
Working ConditionsWorking conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment; hot when weather is hot and cold when weather is cold. Greasy, dirty and noisy environment. Work involves lifting, pulling and/or pushing of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Standing and walking considerable distances. Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats.
Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a Pipe Mill.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Experience with operating automated equipment preferred.
- Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and hand held technical devices.
- Knowledge of the manufacturing mill processes, procedures, and welding operation.
- Employee must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require overtime and weekends when needed.
- Learn various functions of a pipe mill operations by cross training and assist when required.
- Help the operators on setting up the equipment.
- Serve as a back‑up for the Pipe Mill Operators when required.
- Employee must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
- Employee must follow the 5S implementation procedure.
- Employee must report to his immediate supervisor for briefing on daily tasks.
- Provide and assist with good maintenance on the equipment he is operating.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and keep it free and clear of debris.
- Inspect equipment or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- This position may require operating Forklift and Overhead Crane.
- Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up and during shift.
- Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
- Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.
- Assist in changeovers and Mill stops.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position has the authority to stop mill operation at any time that is deemed necessary for reasons of safety, quality, or priority.
