Position: FlexSteel - Electrical Tech/ Millwright

Position Details

Flex Steel position located in Baytown, TX.

Day and night shift available: 6:45 am–6:45 pm and 6:45 pm–6:45 am.

Looking for Level III

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Performs preventive maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as required.
  • Must have the ability to recognize potential problems and quickly report such concerns to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Support production activities of all production lines to ensure the proper function of manufacturing equipment.
  • Operate industrial equipment (forklifts, overhead cranes, 120 manlifts).
  • Read equipment‑drawings and schematics.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, analyzing, and maintaining all electrical and electronic components associated with manufacturing equipment and overhead cranes, including PLCs, industrial control circuits, AC drives, motor control and power circuits and related equipment.
  • Perform routine tests and preventive maintenance program on manufacturing equipment.
  • Assist in analyzing machine failures due to electrical or electronic problems and take appropriate action to correct the problem.
  • Assist with electrical preventive maintenance.
  • Make visual inspections and use test equipment such as chart records, multimeters, ammeters, insulation testers and calibrators, to determine the nature of malfunctions.
  • Install and align motors, gearboxes, drive trains, and other mechanical power transmission systems.
  • Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications.
  • Read wiring schematics and equipment specifications. Update existing schematics for changes.
  • Maintain logs of service and repairs for a specific system or piece of equipment when necessary.
  • Assist in laying out and installing electrical and electronic systems needed for servicing existing equipment, new manufacturing equipment, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Write up complete parts list of items needed, gauge conduit and wire sizes for application.
  • Assist in installing instrument panels, PLCs, counter meters, flow and pressure meters, circuit breakers, switches, solenoids, junction boxes, motors, AC and DC variable speed drives and their control and circuits and connect and test the systems.
  • Assist electrical, facility, mechanical maintenance and engineering as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Experience with in manufacturing maintenance environment preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, such as the ability to read and comprehend various instructions.
  • Familiarity with and use of hand tools and power tools common to the essential duties listed above.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments with the flexibility to handle last‑minute changes.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Some basic experience working around 480‑volt systems at a minimum is preferred.
  • Ability to correctly read blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • No access to production equipment without oversight from a Maintenance Technician I or higher.
  • No exposure to live systems (electrical, hydraulics, hydro, etc.).

  • Regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 175 pounds.
  • Ability to clearly hear voices or alarms, bells, and other noise.
