Job Overview

Flex Steel is a flexible pipe technology company committed to safety, quality, and innovation.

Schedule

Employees may work any of the following shift schedules:

  • 108 hours per pay period: 1 week – Mon–Fri; 2‑week Mon–Thu = 108 hours – Repeat (Weekends off)
  • 96 hours per pay period: 2 days on – 2 days off – 3 days on – 2 days off – 3 days on – 2 days off – Repeat (Every other weekend off every 4 weeks)
Summary

The Mechanical Assembly Technician will set up and operate equipment that requires mechanical assembly operations to produce flexible pipes efficiently and accurately.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Committed to safety and perform all required tasks per company policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Set up and operate machinery used in manufacturing flexible pipes.
  • Perform mechanical assembly operations during equipment setup.
  • Conduct basic routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and quality standards.
  • Complete required documentation records as per procedures.
  • Document and report any issues or discrepancies in equipment setup, production, quality, maintenance, and other areas.

Education, Experience and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical assembly or related field preferred.
  • 0–5 years of relevant experience or related field.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Proven experience in mechanical assembly and equipment operation.
  • Welding and NTD experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and assembly techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of mechanics, metal forming, and/or extrusion equipment and processes preferred.
  • Position may require background checks, medical examinations, safety certifications, valid driver’s license, use of PPE, work in varied weather, travel to remote locations.

Physical Demands
  • Lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours per shift).
  • Climb stairs and ladders.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Work in confined spaces when required.
  • Operate heavy equipment and power tools.
  • Perform repetitive movements.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions.
  • Exposure to loud noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Work in high places and confined spaces.
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals.
  • Work around moving mechanical parts.
  • Work in hot and cold temperatures.
Safety Requirements
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in regular safety training.
  • Complete required safety certifications.
  • Comply with all environmental regulations.
