At East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility, we are seeking Medical Surgical Registered Nurses who bring steady clinical judgment, strong bedside presence, and a genuine commitment to patient‑centered care. This role supports a diverse adult patient population requiring post‑acute, medical, surgical, and transitional care in a setting where communication, accuracy, and calm professionalism matter every shift.
About the RoleThe Medical Surgical RN will manage patients with varying diagnoses and recovery needs while coordinating closely with physicians, LVNs, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, case management, therapy services, and ancillary departments. The ideal nurse is organized, observant, and able to balance clinical priorities while making patients and families feel informed, respected, and supported.
Key Responsibilities- Provide attentive, evidence‑based nursing care to adult Med‑Surg patients with changing clinical needs.
- Complete comprehensive assessments, monitor trends, and respond promptly to changes in condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, treatments, wound care, and ordered interventions with precision and safety.
- Develop, update, and follow individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and families on medications, procedures, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and handoffs to support safe continuity of care.
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation that reflects clinical decision‑making and patient progress.
- Promote infection prevention, fall prevention, medication safety, and facility quality standards.
Full‑time and part‑time opportunities may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holiday rotations based on facility need. Applicants should indicate shift preferences and availability during the application process.
Requirements Qualifications- Active RN license in the State of Texas or compact RN license in good standing.
- Current BLS certification required.
- ACLS preferred or required within the facility‑defined timeframe.
- Recent Medical Surgical, acute care, or hospital nursing experience preferred.
- Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, documentation accuracy, and professional communication.
