Position Summary:The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing US Open Shop and Specialty Services aspects of the company's health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs across refinery, chemical manufacturing, and industrial project sites. This role provides strategic and operational safety leadership to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, client-specific, and other regulatory requirements while promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
The Safety Manager partners closely with operations leadership, field personnel, and client HSE representatives to develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs that protect employees, contractors, customers, and company assets.
This position will ensure field compliance activities, safety training and development, incident investigations, industrial hygiene monitoring, regulatory reporting, and contractor safety performance. The Safety Manager conducts regular site audits, develops project-specific safety plans, supports plant shutdowns and turnarounds, and provides guidance for high-risk activities including but not limited to confined space entry, tank work, rope access, and hot work. The role also serves as the primary point of contact for client safety initiatives, workers' compensation management, and continuous improvement efforts driven by data analysis and safety metrics.
The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-directed safety professional with extensive experience supporting contractors in Gulf Coast refinery and chemical manufacturing environments, strong technical and regulatory knowledge, excellent communication and customer relationship skills, and a demonstrated ability to influence safe work practices at all levels of the organization.

Field Compliance
- Conduct regular field safety audits at customer refining and chemical facilities
- Enforce OSHA, EPA, CAM, and client-specific safety regulations
- Identify workplace hazards and implement immediate corrective actions
- Oversee high-risk activities including confined space entry, crane work, tank work, rope access, and hot work
- Develop site and project safety plans
- Keep management up to date on regulatory and compliance requirements
- Assesses safety and health program performance; identifies trends through data analysis
- Uses industrial hygiene monitoring equipment to test working areas for noise, toxic and other chemical and physical hazards
- Observes craft work to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Design safety training programs for mechanical and specialty service technicians
- Lead daily tool-box talks and safety orientation for new hires
- Maintain comprehensive safety records, certificates, and compliance documentation
- Update corporate safety manuals to reflect changing federal and state regulations
- Assist in interview and selection of project/site safety managers
- Lead investigations for all near-misses, injuries, and property damage
- Complete root-cause analysis for safety incidents. Recommendation of preventive measures, corrections actions in the continuous development/ improvement of safety programs
- Prepare detailed incident reports for executive leadership and clients
- Manage workers' compensation cases and return-to-work programs
- Develop working relationships with client HSE staff
- Attend client and industry HSE meetings and conferences
- Communicate and manage information submittals to client and other third parties
