Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety
JSW Steel USA is seeking a Safety Technician to help strengthen, advance, and continuously improve safety programs and initiatives at our Baytown, Texas facility. This role plays a key part in fostering a proactive safety culture while supporting compliance, risk reduction, and employee well-being.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintenance and Implementation of plant Safety programs.
- Assist in the execution of plant emergency response plans, activities, and First Responder Program
- Assist in incident response, investigation, root cause analysis, reporting, and corrective action programs.
- Conduct Field evaluations and observations regarding process, security, safety, and communication.
- Conduct Multiple Field Audits and Inspections through our EHS Management Program (Gensuite).
- Assist in conducting and monitoring equipment inventory, organization, and maintenance.
- Assist and conduct hazard analysis development and evaluation.
Schedule:
- This position will have a varied schedule that is dependent on plant operations and situational needs. Hours may include holidays, day and night shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct formal inspections/audits through Gensuite
- Assist personnel in completion of Near Miss and incident reporting.
- Provide initial first aid in the event of an injury.
- Initiate investigation of incidents.
- Transport personnel (if needed) to local clinic or hospital.
- Assist in organizing and issue of PPE and uniforms.
- Develop and review JSHA's
- Post Safety Signage and Notifications.
- Coach personnel on completion of tasks in a safe manner.
- Conduct ergonomic surveys in various locations and for various positions.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational health standards
- Experience in training and development within EHS frameworks
- Familiarity with workers' compensation processes and laws
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Understanding of EPA regulations related to workplace safety
- Proficient in report writing and conducting root cause analysis
- Background in manufacturing safety practices
