Kelly Services has provided outstanding employment opportunities to the most talented individuals in the marketplace for over 60 years. Today, Kelly Science is searching for a Research Technologist to join our team at a Fortune 500 Chemical Company in Baytown, TX for a long-term assignment.
Key Responsibilities- Safely handle nanomaterials, chemicals, and hazardous materials in compliance with HSE requirements.
- Perform laboratory work involving wet chemistry, Schlenk line operations, glovebox work, liquid formulation, molding, and ASTM testing.
- Prepare samples, perform routine and non-routine testing, and accurately record and report results.
- Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, including viscometers, gas chromatography (GC), density measurement instruments, and other analytical testing equipment.
- Develop and support experimental methods, small-scale apparatus setup, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analyze data and enter results into laboratory data management systems for review by scientists and engineers.
- Manage sample inventory, storage, shipping, documentation, and disposal.
- Support laboratory readiness, calibration programs, quality systems, and Management of Change (gMOC) activities.
- Work independently and effectively manage multiple high-priority projects while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Biology, or a related scientific field.
- Recent graduates are encouraged to apply; training will be provided.
- Strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation and analytical testing is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with LIMS or laboratory databases is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Flame-resistant laboratory coats or coveralls
- Safety glasses, goggles, and face shields as required
- Chemical-resistant gloves appropriate for assigned tasks
- Steel-toed safety shoes
- Hearing protection, including earplugs, as required
- Ability to stand or walk for most of the workday.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and transport materials.
- Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, and perform hands-on laboratory activities.
- Ability to operate a Kubota utility vehicle when required.
- Must be able to wear required PPE, including flame-resistant lab coats, safety glasses/goggles, gloves, steel-toed shoes, and hearing protection as needed.
- Willingness to work overtime when business needs require.
