Fire Technician II – Total Safety is looking for a skilled Fire Technician II to join their safety conscious team. The role involves service inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment including portable and semi‑portable extinguishers, lifesaving equipment, fire and gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, navigational aids, gaseous suppression systems and sprinkler systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform shop service and field inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire equipment, including customer portable and fixed fire extinguisher systems, lifesaving and navigation aid equipment, fixed breathing air systems, fire detection and alarm system components, fixed gas detection system components, foam, dry chemical, gaseous fire suppression and water‑based fire protection equipment.
• Complete all documentation associated with inspection and repair, obtain customer signatures, and provide proper invoicing and documentation.
• Conduct detailed visual inspections and system functional tests, report deficiencies and corrective action recommendations.
• Conduct pre‑job, job update and post‑job completion briefs.
• Assist in facility operations, stocking shelves, staging, and loading customer orders onto trucks for delivery.
• Maintain work area clean and orderly.
• Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
• Operate electronic safety and communications systems, including portable gas monitors, hand‑held radios, and other related equipment.
• Rig up and use a wide range of safety equipment including retractable lifelines, harnesses, and lanyards.
• Work onshore and offshore exploration and production, trained, authorized, and certified.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of all regulatory standards (State, OSHA, NFPA) and applicable codes (CFR, Coast Guard, ABS for offshore).
• Installation experience with Plant Wide Evacuation systems, Gas Detection systems, conduit (rigid and EMT) and wire pulling.
• Proficiency in the use of PPE and Respiratory Protection; fully certified to wear breathing equipment where required.
• Forklift experience is a plus; must pass internal forklift certification.
• Must obtain TWIC card and pass required safety testing (Basic Plus, OSHA 10 hour, etc.).
• Driver's license with DOT hazardous endorsement if required.
• State Fire Licenses or NICET Level II in two disciplines of fire protection, or NICET 3 in one discipline for appropriate areas, prior to performing work.
• Work in shop, indoor and outdoor industrial environments; may be exposed to various weather conditions, chemicals, vibration, noise (moderate).
• High School diploma or GED and at least two years of field experience in fire protection, petrochemical, oil refinery or related industry. Associate degree in science or technical area strongly preferred.
