Scaffold Builder Lead

Overview

Leadman – Provides leadership, instruction, and guidance to other craft workers in the work crew, assists the foreman, and works in the capacity of a journeyman.

• Examine, select, and gather materials and tools.
• Examine blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions of structures.
• Inspect base surface for obstructions.
• Load, transport, and unload materials.
• Measure boards, timbers or plywood using squares, measuring tape and ruler, and mark cutting lines on materials.
• Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
• Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars.
• Assemble scaffold containing handrails, mid rails, braces and planks, toe boards, screening, locking pins and wheels to job specifications.
• Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings and walls.
• Secure scaffolding to permanent structures by tying.
• Erect scaffolding for buildings and other structures and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways.
• Set and brace anchor bolts.
• May rig materials.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities on tools and equipment.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
• Perform other duties as required.

May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and prior experience in the field or related area. Knowledge of common practices, reliance on instructions and guidelines, work under immediate supervision, and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
