Clean Harbors Baytown, TX is looking for a Lead Diesel Mechanic to join their safety‑conscious team. The Lead Diesel Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the shop, supervising all maintenance work, ensuring the company fleet is within DOT compliance, and maintaining all service and parts records.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, conduct inspections, troubleshoot, diagnose failures and deficiencies, and perform necessary corrections, including off‑site road repairs/service calls.
  • Complete the daily checklist as required for proper operation of the unit being operated.
  • Assure the unit has daily maintenance duties performed and communicate any problems or issues with the unit immediately upon discovery.
  • Complete and submit all associated paperwork as required for tracking PM schedules.
  • Conduct safety checks and annual vehicle inspections in accordance with provincial and federal laws.
  • Assure that equipment is properly parked in compliance with facility permit and DOT requirements.
  • Ensure that work meets all applicable health and safety standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Perform other assignments as assigned by management.
  • Understand Clean Compliance Standard.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5–7 years of diesel engine experience.
  • 1+ years of DOT inspection experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Versed in all aspects of diesel systems, including electrical, computer, ECMs, fuel, air systems, ABS, hydraulic systems, and engines.
  • Proficient in diagnostic, repair, and maintenance of heavy‑duty forklifts, roll‑off trucks, forklifts, pickup trucks, box trucks, tractors, and tankers.
  • Proficient in tooling and equipment diagnosis, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to pass a background, drug, and physical test upon hire.
