Job Overview
Optimized Process Designs, LLC (OPD) is an engineering and construction company headquartered in Katy, Texas. OPD specializes in natural gas, natural gas liquids, and petrochemical projects within the larger Koch Engineered Solutions organization. OPD offers a one‑stop shop of engineering, procurement, and construction services.
Job Site and LocationMont Belvieu, TX – The position is for a Carpenter on the jobsite.
What You Will Do- Prepare the layout of the project.
- Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions.
- Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Utilize hammers, pry‑bars, chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures.
- Work on ladders and scaffolding.
- Check work to ensure it meets code and specifications.
- Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure.
- Create structures for pouring concrete.
- Erect scaffolding.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Aim to achieve high production with good quality output.
- Actively participate in a strong safety culture.
- Recognize safety hazards and risks.
- Participate in onsite safety meetings.
- Follow OPD and client safety policies and procedures.
- Be aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite.
- Be on time to the jobsite each day ready for work.
- Display a positive attitude and work in a team environment.
- Physical demands include:
- Work in outdoor weather, extreme heat, humidity, cold, and high elevations.
- Lifting and carrying objects up to 60 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods up to 11 hours per day with 2.5‑hour break intervals.
- Use arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending regularly.
- Maintain good hand‑eye coordination.
- Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and tools.
- Two years of prior experience as a carpenter.
- Ability to read blueprints and perform basic math calculations.
Job Requirements
- Travel is required, including extended periods away from home in remote areas.
- Willingness to work outside in extreme heat, humidity, and cold conditions.
- Attendance at mandatory safety meetings.
- Capability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to work shifts up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week.
- Physical ability to meet basic requirements.
- Five years of prior experience as a carpenter.
- Previous experience in oil and gas construction.
