Railcar Repair Technician

Transco Rail Services, part of Marmon Holdings, delivers full-service railcar repair and maintenance across North America.

The Railcar Technician conducts all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars. This person must demonstrate good leadership and team skills while being safety-conscious.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct railcar inspections to ensure compliance and perform repairs as necessary.
• Perform repairs following current procedures and AAR rules.
• Provide customer support meeting expectations.
• Handle clerical duties such as invoicing, inspection, work order information.
• Maintain certifications including tank car welding and other required certifications.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with hand tools (pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets, etc.).
• Ability to perform basic railcar repairs and inspections.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Welding abilities with ongoing skill improvement.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong emphasis in welding.

• Able to stoop, kneel, stand, and move for extended periods.
• Wear respirator.
• Lift up to 50 lbs from the ground surface.
• Climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
• Work in confined spaces.
• Pass company physical exam.

Starting Pay: $24.08/hr.
