Job Summary
Journeyman – Typically 3 years and above documented field experience in chosen craft discipline with ability to read and interpret instructions and documents, plan and perform work independently.

Demonstrates knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field; works from instructions and pre‑established guidelines; reports to a supervisor; and performs the primary job functions under immediate supervision.

- Build wooden structures such as stairs, concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnels, sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters according to blueprints or oral instructions.
- Examine blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine material required and dimensions of structures or fixtures to be fabricated.
- Select, load, and haul job material to the work site.
- Prepare layout of form or fixture to be fabricated using lines or grades.
- Measure boards, timbers, or plywood using squares, measuring tape, and ruler; mark cutting lines with pencil and scriber; shape materials to required sizes using saws, chisels, and planes.
- Verify accuracy of structures with transit, plumb bob, square, and level.
- Use carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screwdrivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors, and pry bars.
- Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete‑supporting forms.
- Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls.
- Erect framework for structures and lay sub‑flooring.
- Cut and assemble timbers to build trestles and cofferdams.
- Erect scaffolding for buildings and other structures; install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
- Construct forms, chutes, and align form panels for pouring concrete and grout.
- Fit and install pre‑fabricated window frames, doors, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finished hardware.
- Fit and nail sheathing on outer walls and roofs of buildings; set and brace anchor bolts.
- Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities with tools and equipment.
- Possess ability to tie rebar.
- Operate electric and pneumatic tools.
- May rig materials.
- Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
- Perform other duties as required.
