This is a Flex Steel position and is located in Baytown, TX.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs preventive maintenance on machinery and building or grounds as required.
  • Recognizes potential problems and reports concerns to Supervisor or Manager.
  • Troubleshoots, analyzes, and maintains manufacturing plant operations and facility equipment.
  • Repairs and monitors hydraulic, mechanical, and mechanical power transmitting systems.
  • Supports production activities of all production lines to ensure proper function of manufacturing equipment.
  • Reads equipment drawings and schematics.
  • Troubleshoots, analyzes, and maintains all electrical and electronic components associated with manufacturing equipment and overhead cranes, including PLCs, industrial control circuits, AC drives, motor control and power circuits.
  • Performs routine tests and preventive maintenance program on manufacturing equipment.
  • Analyzes machine failures due to electrical or electronic problems and takes appropriate action to correct the problem.
  • Executes and assists with the development and improvement of existing electrical PM program.
  • Makes visual inspections and uses test equipment such as chart recorders, multimeters, ammeters, insulation testers, and calibrators to determine the nature of malfunctions.
  • Installs and aligns motors, gearboxes, drive trains, and other mechanical power transmission systems.
  • Aligns, adjusts, and calibrates equipment according to specifications.
  • Reads wiring schematics and equipment specifications; draws basic wiring and electronic schematics; updates existing schematics for changes.
  • Maintains logs of service and repairs for a specific system or piece of equipment when necessary.
  • Layouts and installs electrical and electronic systems needed for servicing existing equipment, new manufacturing equipment, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Writes complete parts list of items needed; gauges conduit and wire sizes for application.
  • Installs instrument panels, PLCs, counter meters, flow and pressure meters, circuit breakers, switches, solenoids, junction boxes, motors, AC and DC variable speed drives and their control circuitry; connects and tests the systems.
  • Assists electrical, facility, mechanical maintenance and engineering as needed.
  • Assists in training program at all levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with in manufacturing maintenance environment preferred.
  • Journeyman level knowledge of a trade (electrical, hydraulics, boiler maker, millwright, etc.) or proven competency as a Maintenance Technician I for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to read and comprehend various instructions.
  • Familiar with and use all hand tools and power tools common to the essential duties.
  • Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Good interpersonal skills; works as part of a team or independently.
  • Prioritizes assignments with the flexibility to handle last minute changes.
  • Performs arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic experience working around 480‑volt systems at a minimum is required.
  • Reads blueprints and electrical schematics correctly; updates changes to blueprints and schematics (red line).
  • Not allowed access to live production equipment without oversight from a Maintenance Technician III or higher.
  • Not exposed to electrical systems above 480 V nominal without direct supervision from a Maintenance Technician III or higher.
  • May require background checks, medical examinations, safety certifications, valid driver’s license, ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), working in various weather conditions, travel to remote locations.
