Ironworker Helper - Baytown II, Texas

We are seeking an experienced Ironworker Helper to join our team on the Baytown II project. This role involves assisting skilled ironworkers in the assembly, erection, and rigging of structural steel components.

• Assemble and secure structural supports according to specifications and instructions from the lead ironworker.
• Read structural drawings and understand basic steel assembly practices.
• Use torque wrenches, impact guns, and other hand tools as directed.
• Set up and maintain rigging equipment; handle chains, slings, cables, and hooks.
• Use crane hand signals and communicate effectively with riggers and crane operators.
• Perform lifting operations safely, including the use of crane mats and barricades.
• Cut I-beams with a grinder, torch, or band saw as indicated in the drawings.
• Work routinely at heights on man baskets, elevated platforms, or narrow walkways (over 80% of time).

• Actively participate in a strong safety culture.
• Identify and report safety hazards and risks.
• Attend on‑site safety meetings.
• Follow company and client safety policies and procedures.
• Remain punctual and ready for work each day.
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a cooperative team environment.

• Work in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, cold, and high elevations.
• Operate on elevated platforms and maintain balance on narrow beams or pipes, wearing a full‑body harness and lanyard.
• Lift and carry awkward objects up to 60 lb.
• Stand for up to 12 hours per day and perform frequent movements: walking, climbing, lifting, balancing, reaching, bending, stooping, twisting.

• At least one year of experience as an ironworker helper.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of crane hand signals (hand and verbal).

• Follow safety procedures and industry best practices.
• Wear a full‑body harness and lanyard when working on elevated platforms.
• Travel to remote sites as needed; extended periods away from home may be required.
• Work up to 12‑hour shifts, 7 days per week, when project schedule demands.
• Meet all stated physical demands.

• Experience in a gas plant construction environment.
• Two or more years of previous experience as an ironworker helper.
