Role Description

The Heat Treat Technician role is a full-time/freelance on-site position based in Baytown, TX. The technician is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring heat treatment equipment to meet job specifications and industry standards, including the safe handling of cables, heaters, and control units. Day-to-day activities include reading and interpreting work orders and technical drawings, installing and removing heat treatment equipment, performing temperature checks, documenting process parameters, and completing job reports.

The role also involves collaborating with supervisors and other field personnel to plan work, adhering to safety protocols and company procedures, and maintaining tools and equipment in good working order. Technicians may work varied shifts, including nights and weekends, and may be required to support projects in different industrial facilities.

Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial heat treatment processes, including setup, operation, and monitoring of heat treat equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work orders, and specifications related to thermal and mechanical services.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including knowledge of industrial safety practices, PPE use, and hazard recognition.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and hands-on skills for installing, connecting, and maintaining cables, heaters, and control units.
  • Attention to detail for accurate temperature monitoring, process documentation, and completion of job reports.
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including standing for extended periods, lifting moderate weights, and working in varying weather conditions.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for coordinating with supervisors, clients, and other field personnel.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including overtime, nights, weekends, and occasional travel as project needs require.
  • Prior experience in energy, petrochemical, or related industrial sectors is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training or certifications in heat treatment or industrial services are a plus.
