RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for the Surgical Unit II at Community Medical Center. Community Medical Center is a 592-bed, fully accredited acute care hospital offering area residents world‑class medical treatment with the comforts of hometown care. Opened in 1961, CMC has evolved into the state’s newest teaching hospital with four residency programs and Ocean County’s largest and most active health care facility--caring for over 21,500 inpatients, 178,000 outpatients and 73,700 emergency department patients each year.
Qualifications- ASN or Nursing Diploma
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills
- BLS certification
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License
- BSN (preferred; if not, must be completed within 5 years upon hire)
Day shift, 24 Hours Per Week
Essential Functions- Organize and administer individualized, age‑specific professional care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital in support of medical care
- Provide nursing care as directed by medical staff and in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the State Nurse Practice Act
- Maintain the standards of nursing care as established
- Use an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age‑specific needs and provide age‑specific treatment
- Assure safety in practice and incorporate evidence‑based practice principles
- Report identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (e.g. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors
- Be knowledgeable of the patient population served
- Supervise and direct the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborate with other patient‑care providers
- Set and evaluate priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement
- Utilize the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualize the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs
