Ohio Substitute Teacher Services (OSTS) is proud to partner with Beachwood City Schools to provide dedicated substitute special education assistants. These roles are essential in supporting students and ensuring continuity in their education when regular staff are unavailable.
We are actively seeking individuals who are passionate about making a difference. Whether you are a retired educator looking to return to the classroom, a recent college graduate, or someone exploring a new path in education, we welcome your interest. No prior experience in education or current licensure is required. We will guide you through the credentialing process.
At OSTS, our team works closely with each candidate from the initial application through placement in your first assignment, offering support every step of the way.

- Support teachers with classroom instruction and academic programming
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students
- Reinforce lessons and assist with remedial or enrichment activities
- Provide supervision throughout the school day (classroom, lunch, transitions, field trips)
- Assist with classroom setup, materials preparation, and recordkeeping
- Implement behavior plans and provide student-specific accommodations
- Support student independence and engagement
- Ability to obtain an Educational Aide Permit with ESEA endorsement (or a Substitute Teacher License)
- Willingness to complete required training
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Dependability, flexibility, and professional integrity
- Applicants must pass a background check that allows for public school employment, verified through FBI and BCI background checks dated within 365 days of hire.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual.
- Adhere to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators.
- Substituting typically offers a schedule that aligns with regular school hours, providing a good work-life balance.
