Middle/Elementary School Principal

The Beachwood City School District has an opening for a Middle/Elementary School Principal for the  school year, at BMS/Hilltop Elementary. 230 days per year.

Job Qualifications:

MA in Education Administration. Appropriate Ohio Administrative License.

Start date:

Immediately

To assist the principal in providing leadership, administration, and supervision of the educational program of the school.

• MA Degree;
  Appropriate Ohio Administrative Certificate
• Meet all current requirements of the Ohio Department of Education
• Meet all health requirements mandated by law
• Satisfactory completion of the BCII and FBI background check
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle license

Instructional Leadership

• Assists in the establishment a school culture that embodies the district mission statement, promotes academic excellence, and demonstrates respect for learners
• Promotes the building of a school learning community
• Provides leadership for the evaluation and improvement of the instruction in various departments
• Provides leadership and guidance when establishing gifted, RTI and tutoring services in the building

Staff Personnel

• Assists with the interviewing and selection of building staff
• Evaluates the performance of the building faculty and staff
• Recommends action regarding staff contracts to the Superintendent

Curriculum & Instruction

• Reviews student progress as it relates to the achievement of curriculum goals
• Works cooperatively with the guidance department on the development of the assessment schedules
• Analyzes diagnostic testing data to place students into interventions
• Leads and establishes the process for Title 1 tutors within the building
• Leads educational planning teams for At-Risk students
• Monitors the credit recovery process for students throughout the school year and during the summer months

Pupil Personnel

• Assists in the planning and implementing of programs for health, safety and welfare of the students in the building
• Develops and implements a code of conduct and attendance procedures that will enable the school to function efficiently with a minimum of confusion and conflict
• Supports the principal and staff by enforcing the student code of conduct
• Assists with the communication and implementation of special education laws, policies and procedures
• Participates on building Intervention Assistance Teams (IAT)
• Conducts parent conferences
• Assists with the planning of student orientation programs
• Ensures that the students have a well balanced activity program designed to stimulate growth and development by supplementing and enriching the curricular and extracurricular activities
• Assists in the development and implementation of student programming focused on bullying, drug awareness & intervention, and sexual harassment
• Monitors the Senior Search process and student accountability related to Senior Search

School Community Relations

• Promotes and maintains constructive relations and effective communication with building, district and community
• Encourages staff participation in school activities
• Promotes parent/community involvement in the school through Parent-Teacher Organization and other support organizations

Resource Management

• Assists the principal in developing and monitoring comprehensive leveled intervention system for students
• Implements policies for safeguarding equipment and property and enforces the observance of all laws including fire drills, tornado drills and other safety procedures
• Ensures the efficient use and coordination of building facilities in collaboration with the Director of Operations
• Maintains a healthy, safe building environment and makes necessary maintenance requests and recommendations for physical improvements and security measures

Other Functions

• Implements and monitors all Board policies and procedures
• Ensures that state minimum standards are properly interpreted and met
• Enforces requirements of State laws, Board of Education policies, student code of conduct, building rules and regulations and local attendance policies
