Endoscopy Technician

Description A Brief Overview

Assists in safe, efficient endoscopic procedures that the physicians will use as a tool for making a diagnosis for Adult patients. Assist in procedure rooms in caring for patients, obtaining specimens, cleaning, and turnaround of procedure room. Be knowledgeable in high level disinfected practices and record keeping. Be proficient in endoscopic equipment, set up, maintenance and troubleshooting. They will cross train to assist in procedures as needed.

Participates in staff development and actively pursues professional and self-development.

• Accurately decontaminates and reprocesses endoscopic equipment and accessories. (35%)
• Under the direction of an RN, assists in procedure rooms to assist in caring for patient, obtaining specimens, and the cleaning and turn around of procedure rooms and pre and post recovery areas. (35%)
• Maintains the cleanliness of all procedure rooms and reprocessing room. (20%)
• Maintains inventory of endoscopy supplies, reprocessing supplies and equipment. (10%)

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
