Job Summary
Eaton’s Corporate Sector division is seeking a Senior Data Architect to moderate manufacturing and engineering data assets. The role works with Principal Data Architects, IT value streams, and business partners to design, maintain, and govern data models aligned with business requirements and technical standards. It includes leading data governance, metadata management, data integration, and quality initiatives while mentoring junior staff.
Job Responsibilities- Develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models for manufacturing/engineering domains.
- Iteratively refine models to reflect evolving business needs and technology standards.
- Ensure semantic layers provide consistent and meaningful views for reporting and analytics.
- Collaborate with business domain owners and other architects to guarantee cross‑domain interoperability.
- Design models for sensitive data classification, access control, and metadata cataloging.
- Advocate for standardized metrics and reusable data assets, supporting modernization of emerging technologies.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical oversight.
- Drive data modelling across Manufacturing and Engineering and implement solutions with long‑term perspective.
- Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of seven years’ experience in a data delivery environment.
- Solid understanding of data models.
- Residence within 50 miles of Beachwood OH, Galesburg MI, Houston TX, Menomonee Falls WI, Moon Township PA, or Raleigh NC (no relocation).
- Authorized to work in the United States continuously without sponsorship.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of entity‑relationship, star/snowflake schemas, and 3rd normal form.
- Prior manufacturing experience.
- Experience with cloud‑based data lakes and warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Apache Iceberg).
- Intermediate programming skills in Python, Scala, SQL, PL/SQL.
- Experience with Dev Sec Ops and CI/CD principles and tools.
- Experience with metadata management, data lineage, ETL/ELT, and data quality frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data security, access controls, and privacy principles.
- Proficiency with cloud data platforms and data governance practices.
- Effective documentation and communication of technical solutions.
- Advanced data modeling techniques, including entity‑relationship, star/snowflake schemas, 3rd normal/final denormalized forms.
- Cloud‑based data lake/warehouse technologies (Snowflake, Apache Iceberg).
- Intermediate programming in Python, Scala, SQL, PL/SQL.
- Dev Sec Ops , CI/CD principles, and tools.
- Metadata management and data lineage tools.
- ETL/ELT and data quality frameworks.
- Data security, access controls, and privacy principles.
- Cloud data platforms and governance practices.
- Effective documentation of technical solutions.
- Relationship building with senior level stakeholders.
- Team leadership through strategy implementation.
- Operational issue identification and proactive resolution.
- Progress reporting to upper management.
- Data modernization and enablement driving.
- High‑level technical delivery management.
- Influencing leadership and key stakeholders on technology solutions.
- Application of new processes and concepts in IT management.
