Purpose:
The Technical and Quality Manager will be responsible for collaborating with the operations, legal, and marketing teams and providing direction on the chemical make-up of current and existing products, managing all regulatory affairs efforts and the quality control efforts.
- Lead and maintain the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
- Develop, implement, and improve quality control procedures and documentation.
- Oversee raw material and finished goods testing protocols.
- Manage Certificate of Analysis (C of
A) documentation and filing systems. - Lead internal audits and support customer or regulatory audits.
- Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all product compliance matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, EPA, TSCA, state-level regulations, VOC requirements, etc.).
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on products and labeling.
- Maintain chemical registrations and regulatory documentation.
- Support transportation compliance (DOT classifications where applicable).Interface with external agencies, consultants, and customers on regulatory inquiries.
- Author, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with GHS/OSHA standards.
- Ensure proper product labeling and hazard communication.
- Maintain technical data sheets (TDS) and product specifications.
- Manage document control for formulas, specifications, and compliance records.
- Lead formulation improvements and new product development initiatives.
- Evaluate alternative raw materials for cost, performance, and compliance.
- Conduct product performance testing and validation.
- Support scale-up from lab to production.
- Provide technical support to Sales and customers.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or closely related scientific field (advanced degree preferred), high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 5+ years of experience in quality, regulatory, or technical roles within specialty chemicals, industrial chemicals, or consumer chemical products.
Skills And Abilities
- Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts and basic chemistry instrumentation including viscometers, pH meters, scales, etc.
- Thorough understanding of methods and processes involved in manufacturing.
- Understanding of how different chemicals interact with each other and potential reactions they have.
- Familiarity working with regulatory agencies and their requirements. UL, CSA, NSF exposure preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the use of the internet.
- Developed analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Ability to read, write and interpret reports and business correspondence for a diverse audience.

- Experience with industrial wipes, cleaning products, sealants, adhesives, or similar chemical products.
- Background in ISO-based quality systems.
- Experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections.
- Knowledge of VOC regulations and state-level compliance (e.g., CARB).

Physical DemandsNature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. independently. May require periodic travel, evening and/or weekend hours as business needs demand.
