This classification level performs a variety of high-level support/clerical tasks that promote effective and expeditious decision making by the appropriate authority in matters including wills, special administrations, estates, guardian ships, and conservatorships. Responsible for review and acceptance of electronic and over-the-counter filings for permanent record, case assignment, file assembly, and entry of case information into court software. Responsible for monitoring and reviewing case progression timeline compliance.
Prepares notices and correspondence for probate hearings, as instructed by Judges and/or Judicial Administrator/Clerk Magistrate. Performs other clerical tasks such as answering phones, processing mail, receipting money, and general office duties.

SalaryA Probate Clerk’s salary range is $38,257.13 - $46,612.56. After probation, permanent wage will increase at least 2.5%. Pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.
Job Duties- Provides customer service to internal and external customers, including answering phones and greeting walk-in visitors, responding to information requests, and addressing routine questions.
- Performs clerical tasks, including review and acceptance of electronic and over-the-counter filings; collecting fees and other payments; receiving, processing, sorting, filing, and distributing correspondence, materials, billings, payments, deliveries, mail, and related paperwork.
- Enters information into applicable court databases and other computerized systems to maintain court records and process court motions/filings.
- Receives and processes information with attention to detail to promote effective decision making for probate filings (estates, wills, special administrations, guardian ships, conservatorships).
- Prepares, records, and maintains information, verifying filings for accuracy and ensuring corrections as needed.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Associate degree in a related field or High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) combined with 4 years of related experience. All educational credits must be from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.

Positions are primarily sedentary; some light physical effort may be required, not to exceed 20 lbs.
