Flood Communications – Ol’ Red 99.5 & KWBE
Location: Fairbury, Beatrice, & Southeast Nebraska
Dates: May 18 – August 15, 2026 (Approx. 12 weeks)
Schedule: Part‑time, approximately 20 hours per week
Compensation: Paid Internship
Flood Communications is seeking an energetic, creative, and dependable student intern to assist with promotions, events, and on‑air support for Ol’ Red 99.5 and KWBE. This hands‑on internship offers real‑world experience in radio broadcasting, marketing, social media, and live event promotion. The intern will represent Flood Communications and its stations in a fun, engaging, and professional manner at all times.
Key Responsibilities Promotions & Commercial Production- Assist with commercial production for local advertisers and Production Voice Share
- Support on‑air promotions and listener interaction initiatives
- Create promotional graphics using Canva
- Assist with social media posting and engagement on Facebook and X
- Support interactive on‑air and online features
- Summer Concerts
- High school and Doane University
- Assist with station remotes, fairs, festivals, and live events
- Organize, transport, and set up promotional materials
- Interact with listeners and event attendees in a positive, outgoing manner
- Represent the stations in parades, including driving station vehicles (if eligible)
- Attend ribbon cuttings, business anniversaries, and client open houses
- Attend select board meetings, council meetings, and news press conferences
- High school junior/senior or college student preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable speaking with the public
- Basic social media knowledge;
Canva experience a plus - Dependable, organized, and able to work flexible hours (including some evenings/weekends)
- Valid driver’s license preferred (required for certain duties)
- Hands‑on experience in radio promotions, marketing, news, and events
- Exposure to broadcasting, commercial production, and news gathering
- Portfolio‑building opportunities in social media and promotional content
- Networking with media professionals in Southeast Nebraska
- A fun, fast‑paced summer experience in local radio
