Position Summary

The adjunct instructor is responsible for developing and implementing various courses in a classroom and laboratory setting. Teaching assignments may include Agriculture Business Mgt, Agriculture Marketing, Advanced Agriculture Marketing, Sales, Enterprise Analysis, Ag Technology and Farm & Ranch Mgt. Additional responsibilities include student advising, participation on college teams, and other duties as assigned. This is a part‑time temporary position.

Essential Functions

  • Provide instruction in assigned subject areas, using appropriate strategies, techniques and online/hybrid formats.
  • Review, evaluate, and select textbooks and supplemental materials for courses.
  • Maintain student evaluation and record‑keeping, develop grading system.
  • Develop and revise course curriculum and educational material.
  • Stay current in events and developments related to subject areas.
  • Attend program/college meetings and serve on teams.
  • Serve as academic advisor for students.
  • Assist with supervising labs, maintaining security, and preparation of budgets, schedules and reports.
  • Operate appropriate multimedia equipment and computers.

Program Chair Duties (if assigned)

  • Coordinate curriculum development and revision.
  • Participate in staffing and evaluation.
  • Supervise instructional staff.
  • Participate in budget process.
  • Develop class schedules.
  • Advise students and manage registration.
  • Maintain program advisory committee.
  • Practice and encourage safety.

Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

  • Current knowledge and expertise in courses assigned per program curriculum plan.
  • At least two years work experience related to teaching assignments.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to employ variety of teaching strategies, techniques and evaluation methods in face‑to‑face, online and laboratory settings.
  • Proficiency with computer applications (email, internet, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations).
  • Willingness to learn multimedia equipment, computer‑aided instruction software, and institutional grading and advising systems.
  • Model excellence, ethics and positive cooperation in the classroom and on the campus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Leadership and communication skills for program chair duties if assigned.
  • Organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business or a closely related field.
    • Two (2) years recent verifiable work experience in agriculture business.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in Agriculture, Education or Business related field.
    • Teaching and/or technical instruction experience.
    • Two (2) years recent verifiable experience in management.

    Salary and Benefits

    Salary TBD. Part‑time temporary employees are eligible to participate in the TIAA retirement plan (Roth, SRA, 457(B) account); no match is provided by the College.

    Schedule

    Part‑time temporary position with assignments based on program needs.
