Position Summary Information
General Description of Position
- The Continuing Education Division Community Education program is continuously seeking part-time instructors to teach non-credit/community educational offerings in the area of leisure learning. Opportunities vary widely. If you have a self-designed curriculum you would like to propose for the division, please complete the application. Class selection is made on a term-by-term basis.
Please note:
Instructors are not permitted to sell products or services in their class. The Community Education program seeks qualified instructors to provide affordable, varied, and outstanding non-credit lifelong learning opportunities to Beatrice/Gage County residents. Adjunct instructors provide local residents with positive educational experiences, teach valuable new skills, and provide community involvement. Proposals will be considered for additional review based on factors including but not limited to community demand, relevance to SCCC Continuing Education objectives, existing courses, and the course potential for cost recovery.
Application and class proposals do not guarantee acceptance.
Essential Functions
- Promote a Culture of Belonging Support and promote an environment of belonging where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered to contribute. Foster a community where each individual and their varied perspectives enrich the educational experience and create a safe and respectful environment. Support the College's policies and programming related to access, fair employment, and equal opportunities for all.
Marginal Functions
- Perform other College functions and duties as assigned. Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College and are subject to modification.
Required Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in person, and on the phone. Ability to use basic computer skills. Ability to lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds for short distances and move tables, chairs, and media equipment when necessary. The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Teaching experience with a passion and expertise for the instructional topic. Ability to write class descriptions and course outlines. Ability to use basic computer and email skills. Be able to demonstrate your craft.
