Under the general direction and supervision of the Dean and Associate Dean, the adjunct instructor is responsible for developing and implementing various courses in a classroom and laboratory setting. Teaching assignments for this position will be courses in the Utility Lineworker program. This is a part‑time, temporary position.

• Develop course objectives and implement appropriate teaching strategies.
• Advise students, monitor and evaluate progress, and keep accurate records.
• Implement a variety of instructional strategies, including lectures, small groups, demonstrations, and laboratory activities.
• Prepare and administer evaluation instruments and maintain student records on attendance, achievement, and progress.
• Remain current in events and developments related to the subject area, and improve personal teaching and subject knowledge through supplemental sources.
• Participate in division and college meetings, committees, and the Workforce Leadership Team.
• Maintain security of college vehicles, equipment, facilities, and materials.
• Serve as an Academic Advisor for students, advising on progress, graduation requirements, and policies.
• Develop and revise course objectives, content, descriptions, instructional strategies, grading structures, and recommend textbooks.
• Act as a member of the Utility Lineworker program, Advanced Technologies & Skilled Trades Division, Instructional Division, and SCC teams.
• Interact with colleagues, students, staff, supervisors, and the public to project a positive image of the program and College.
• Maintain and upgrade classroom/laboratory instructional facilities and equipment, ensuring safe and proper working order.
• Develop an individualized development plan (New Instructors).
• Operate and utilize audio‑visual equipment, computers, and the learning management system.
• Provide information and data to assist in budget, course schedule, vehicle condition, MAP Goals, assessment reports, and other required reports.
• Serve as a substitute instructor within the Agriculture Division when needed.
• Serve as a technical advisor from the Livestock Management & Production program to assist other programs.
• Perform other related duties within the division/program as assigned.
• Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
• Be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required.

• Possess specific knowledge and experience in the Utility Lineworker field, including:
• Working knowledge of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and proficiency in climbing poles, operating bucket trucks, and using specialized tools.
• Understanding and application of safety protocols and regulations, including OSHA and NESC.
• Experience with energized and de‑energized line work, grounding techniques, and PPE.
• Ability to interpret utility construction drawings, work orders, and system maps, including installation and maintenance of transformers and related equipment.
• Familiarity with emergency response procedures for storm restoration and outage management.
• Specific supervision:

• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication for diverse student populations.
• Ability to utilize appropriate evaluation methods for various teaching formats.

• Prepare quizzes, tests, and assignments and return them promptly.
• Organize and present course material logically and timely.
• Research and acquire knowledge for lecture presentations and lab demos.
• Conduct classroom and laboratory sessions according to course descriptions.
• Participate in recruitment activities to attract students to the program.
