Close to Heart -- Close to Home; that is Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC); providing care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Beatrice State Developmental Center is looking for dedicated teammates who want to "Help People Live Better Lives" as a Developmental Technician.

At BSDC, we know your schedule matters. That’s why we’re moving to a 4-day, 10-hour workweek, giving employees more flexibility and additional days off. With day, evening, and overnight shifts available, you can find a schedule that works for you while making a meaningful impact.

1st shift: 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

2nd shift: 1:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.

3rd shift: 10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.

Wages

Developmental Technician I (Part Time/On-Call) - $15.769/hour

Developmental Technician II (Full Time) - $19.208/hour

Both positions receive an additional $3/hour for every hour worked & shift differential (Shift differential ranges from $1.00 to $1.75 depending on shift/day of the week).

Shift and days off will be determined at time of offer.

Job Duties
  • As a Developmental Technician you will:
    Assist individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities with day-to-day supports.
  • Perform and/or monitor individual's personal hygiene care such as toileting, bathing, grooming, and dressing.
  • Maintain an active environment to expand individuals’ skills.
  • Follow individualized written plans for behavioral training.
  • Document information related to individual activities, supports, adverse reactions, etc.
  • Administer medication and treatment to individuals.
  • Participate in discussions with interdisciplinary team members about how to best support individuals.
  • Monitor physical environment and take necessary action to ensure safety, sanitary environment and compliance with State and Federal Standards.
  • Recognize emergencies and take appropriate steps to resolve the situation.
  • Accompany individuals into the community on trips, leisure, or medical appointments.
  • Successfully complete all training and certification requirements and become certified on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry.
Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Development Technician I/II:
Must be at least 18 years of age, and possess a valid driver's license.

  • Developmental Technician II:
    Incumbents are required to work regularly scheduled shifts with predictable attendance and work overtime up to and including entire shifts.
  • These positions are subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.).
  • Incumbents must complete a state approved medication aide course and successfully pass a written and clinical competency exam administered by the State of Nebraska and be placed on the State of Nebraska Medication Aide Registry as a condition of continued employment.
  • Developmental Technician I/II:
    Positions classified to this class may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases and blood and airborne pathogens such as TB, HIV and Hepatitis.
  • Incumbents are required to have the ability to lift, bend, push and/or pull 50 pounds on a continuous basis to assist clients in meeting their needs and maintaining safety within the home.

Knowledge of: general developmental care skills; preparing and maintaining individual s records and charts;
Nebraska Medication Aide registration requirements. Skill in: active listening, and communicating clearly with others.

Ability to: develop effective working relationships with staff and individuals; provide quality daily care to individuals; complete courses and competency evaluations; document treatment/training plans; count accurately and record numerical and alphabetical data; observe, recognize, report on physical status; demonstrate proper lifting, including a buddy lift, within a weight range of 50 to 200 lbs. to heights of 36 inches; lift, bend, push and/or pull 50 pounds on a continuous basis;
