Job Summary

Beatrice Ready Mix and Concrete Company is seeking a high‑performing, results‑oriented Plant Manager to oversee production, distribution, operations, and personnel at our Beatrice plant. The role requires balancing production demands with maintenance needs while ensuring compliance with our safety program and policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assure production and distribution of ready‑mixed concrete are conducted in accordance with company policies, principles, and procedures.
  • Develop efficient use plans for materials, machines, and employees and review production costs and product quality to maintain and enhance operational profitability.
  • Determine work procedures and assign duties to personnel involved in batching and hauling concrete and materials.
  • Implement and enforce the Lockout/Tagout program and ensure all personnel follow safe lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Maintain SDS forms, ensuring accuracy and timely review.
  • Provide up‑to‑date status on support or production activities to appropriate parties.
  • Coordinate and supervise plant design updates and alterations.
  • Estimate and develop costs for major repairs and renovations.
  • Develop support information for the maintenance plan.
  • Inspect personnel performance for quality and quantity and document performance feedback as necessary.
  • Ensure general appearance, security of grounds and buildings, equipment, and machinery.
  • Engage with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services.
  • Conduct safety meetings and plant safety/environmental inspections as required.
  • Develop and recommend budgets to management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides supervisory oversight for direct plant operations, including Concrete Truck Drivers, batch operations personnel, and approximately 25 employees.

Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED, plus five years in ready‑mixed concrete production or a related role, with at least two years in a leadership position.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid driver’s license. CDL helpful but not required.
  • ACI Field Testing Technician Certification – Grade 1, or ability to obtain within a reasonable time frame.
  • NDOT Certified Plant Technician Certification, or ability to obtain within a reasonable time frame.
  • Forklift, Loader, and Aerial Lift Certifications, or ability to obtain as needed.
Other Qualifications
  • Thorough knowledge of and capability to operate all equipment and machinery used in ready‑mix production and delivery.
  • Proven track record of increasing responsibility and results in production, maintenance, process, and quality.
  • Exemplary technical knowledge of plant operations, concrete materials, training, environmental compliance, equipment, and construction projects.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance and testing is helpful.
  • Understanding of safety rules and regulations of the industry.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Other Skills & Abilities
  • Write business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Read, understand, and interpret specifications, operations manuals, equipment instructions, and safety rules; draft reports and communicate with management and subordinates.
  • Apply basic fractions, percentages, ratios, and algebraic principles to calculate inventory, moisture content, and daily reports.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
