Job Description

The (Judicial Branch) does not sponsor STEM (form i-983) or non-immigrant work visas for this position.

This classification level is responsible for monitoring, coordinating activities, arranging, conducting, and maintaining documentation for drug screenings.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing assistance to Probation Officers, contacting clients, scheduling, collecting and disposing of urine specimens, and maintaining records.
• Conducting drug screenings in accordance with established systems and procedures using approved testing methodologies.
• Maintaining the inventory of testing supplies and equipment.
• Testifying in court and reporting and documenting testing results.
• Ensuring documentation procedures are done in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Providing training on testing result documentation.

Location:

In office only at 201 North 5 Street Ste 1, Beatrice, NE 68310. Travel may/will be required at times.

Work Schedule:

Some non-traditional hours may be required. Will primarily serve in a capacity of afternoon drug testing at the probation reporting center in Beatrice. Drug testing occurs until 5 pm so this position may be required to work until all drug testing tasks are completed after 5 pm.

Salary:
Starting salary $38,878.81 annually. Immediate growth:
Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing your probation period (if starting at Hiring Rate). Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval. Future increases:
Annual cost-of-living adjustments (applied on July
1) are subject to State Legislature approval.

• Associate’s degree in criminal justice, medical/laboratory, or a related area.
• One (1) year of experience as a drug technician or related position.
• All educational credits must be from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Department of Education.
• Prior substance abuse or chemical testing training and experience working with the offender population.
• Knowledge of drug screening and chemical testing methodology, safe work methods and procedures, applicable testing equipment, and recordkeeping principles.
• Basic inventory management principles.
• Proficiency with computers and related software applications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interact with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others.
• Physical ability to handle expected tasks (detailed below).

Incumbents may be exposed to fumes, odors, poor ventilation, hazardous materials (chemicals, blood, and other body fluids, etc.), and challenging environmental conditions.

• Light work:
  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.
• Requires use of arm and/or leg controls and exertion of forces greater than those for sedentary work.
