Job Title
Position Summary This position performs major/minor mechanical repairs on company automobiles, diesel trucks, and other vehicles or machinery with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of company fleet vehicles.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAbides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Troubleshoots and repairs company vehicles and equipment as needed. This includes the performance of technical diagnostics and major repair of the following equipment: passenger vehicles, light duty trucks, heavy duty trucks, trailers, loaders, mining equipment and any other designated machinery.
Performs all work in accordance with schedules, policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety. In doings such functions, comply with company rules, procedures, and guidelines. Reports un-safe practices.
Provides direction and leadership to fellow employees in various maintenance and repair methods, procedures, and techniques. Helps co-workers understand various aspects of the work assigned to them. Participates in all associated work in their department, helps insure that the work performed is accurate, that the proper work methods and techniques are in compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
Responds to emergency service calls for repairing or towing equipment that has broken down away from the garage. Performs duties at the plant and production locations as needed.
Maintains and assures cleanliness and neatness of shop area. Assures safety standards are met.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or ExperienceAssociate's Degree or Certification in Diesel or Automotive Technology; and five years related vehicle and heavy equipment repair experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the company's insurance plan.
- A valid CDL driver's license is preferred, or must be able to qualify and obtain a CDL within a reasonable amount of time.
- Computer skills required.
- Must be a self-start with ability to operate with minimal supervision, trouble shoot, and take initiative to investigate and resolve problems.
- Must have complete set of tools to do the required job functions, diagnostic tools are provided.
- A working knowledge of related maintenance skills such as welding, electrical and mechanical systems, engines, and brakes are necessary.
- Ability to regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
