** Staff Accountant**, you'll support the financial integrity of Coastal by performing operational accounting, reconciliations, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives. You'll help ensure customer billing, disposal costs, purchase orders, vendor transactions, rebates, and operational reporting are accurate while partnering with leaders across the organization to improve financial controls and business processes.

This role offers the opportunity to travel to Coastal locations, collaborate with field leadership, and make a direct impact on how our business operates.## ## What You'll Do
* Perform operational and financial audits to ensure customer billing and financial transactions are accurate.
* Conduct route audits and review operational data for accuracy and timely completion.
* Monitor disposal tonnage quotas and analyze utilization trends.
* Review and close completed COUPA purchase orders.
* Support maintenance spend reporting and identify opportunities for automation.
* Review third-party vendor billing and intercompany transactions for accuracy.
* Validate disposal rates and customer billing within operational systems.
* Audit corporate credit card transactions and expense allocations.
* Review customer disposal charges and rebate activity to ensure proper allocation and timely processing.
* Perform weekly arrears billing and assist with customer payment investigations.
* Research and resolve account discrepancies while partnering with Customer Experience, Collections, and Operations.
* Prepare reconciliations, reports, and financial analyses that support business decisions.
* Recommend process improvements that strengthen financial controls, improve efficiency, and enhance the customer experience.
* Collaborate across Accounting, Finance, Operations, Maintenance, and Customer Experience to solve business challenges.

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Three (3) or more years of accounting, financial analysis, auditing, or related experience.
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and account reconciliations.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Experience working with ERP or accounting software.
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple departments.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Willingness to travel up to
** 25%
** to support Coastal's operating locations.
** Preferred Qualifications
*** CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
* Experience in waste and recycling, transportation, logistics, or another operational industry.
* Experience with TRUX, COUPA, Power BI, or similar business systems.
* Experience supporting operational accounting, customer billing, or financial process improvements.
