Solid Waste Attendant; Drop Center

The purpose of this position is to assist the public with disposal of solid waste materials, coordinate material removal with contracted waste company, and maintain a clean working environment for staff and visitors. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.

Essential Functions
:

• Opens and closes the convenience site, removes litter, answers phone, fills containers that need emptying and prepares daily reports on site activity.
• Checks entering vehicles for solid waste decals and assists customers with the disposal and recycling of their solid waste.
• Maintains cleanliness of the site.
• Notifies supervisor of activities, violations and hazards.
• Assists citizens as needed.
• Performs related work as assigned.

• Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
• Requires a short demonstration up to and including one month of related experience.

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment.
