Summer Library Assistant Intern - Beaufort​/Port Royal

The goal of this internship is to support the staff at the Beaufort and Port Royal locations in assisting with the Summer Reading programs and related activities and events. The selected intern will also have the opportunity to participate in outreach events and help with the daily operations of the Library as needed.

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

• Prepare materials for children’s summer reading programs
• Participate in outreach events to help promote Beaufort County Library services and resources
• Assist patrons in use of public computers, Wi-Fi, and other library technology
• Assist circulation staff with tasks such as checking in materials, preparing items for transit, and pulling requested items
• Performs related work as assigned.

• Must be 16 years or older and currently attending high school or higher education.

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
