Job Responsibilities
Job Purpose:

Teach engineering courses to students across academic programs at the Technical College of the Low country, providing instruction that integrates theoretical concepts with practical applications to support student learning and workforce readiness.

Job Functions:

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction in engineering concepts through lectures, demonstrations, and applied learning activities.
  • Facilitate effective classroom and/or laboratory learning environments.
  • Develop and implement course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials aligned with course outcomes.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, projects, examinations, and other evaluation methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress in accordance with college policies.
Instructional Development
  • Recommend textbooks, laboratory materials, and other instructional resources for engineering courses.
  • Utilize instructional technologies and learning management systems to support teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic support units, such as tutoring and student success services, to promote student achievement.
  • Assist with the preparation of course-related documentation and reports as needed for program review, planning, or accreditation purposes.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in engineering and related technologies.
  • Participate in relevant professional development activities when possible.
  • Represent the College professionally in interactions with students, colleagues, and community partners.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Master's degree in Engineering or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in engineering or a related discipline. Unofficial transcripts are required at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include prior teaching experience at the college level or relevant professional experience in an engineering field.
