American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a night shift position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2 years of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.
Details- Work in the Emergency Department of a Magnet-designated, Major Teaching, Level I Trauma Center
- General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric populations
- STEMI Certified and Stroke Certified facility
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Uses Meditech EMR system
- High patient-to-caregiver ratios with frequent floating within the hospital
- Floating occurs in rotation with staff according to facility policy and clinical experience
- Expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
- Active SC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience required
- Required certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Preferred certifications: CPI, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC
- Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
- IV start skills required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Travel experience preferred but not required
- Skilled in trauma care including gunshot wounds, traumatic amputations, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation
- Experience managing psychiatric patients including acute psychosis, suicidal patients, and violent behavior
- Skilled in IV therapy including arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ventilated patients
- Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury preferred
- Skilled in orthopedic trauma care including splint application
- Provide emergency care across a wide range of pediatric and adult conditions including respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, and skin disorders
- Administer emergency medications including IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation
- Identify and report signs of neglect or abuse
- Maintain isolation precautions and appropriate PPE use
- Perform triage duties as part of ER responsibilities
- Scrub color required is royal blue/white
- Free parking available in any unrestricted space
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility for consideration
- Local candidates within the radius are not accepted for this position
- Minimal to no RTO approved; any time off requests must be submitted and discussed prior to assignment start
- Previous employees must have been gone for at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be eligible to return
