American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg-Tele Float position requiring 2 years of med surg experience and PCU/stepdown experience for frequent floating.

• Position based in a 29-bed general surgical and orthopedic unit with medical overflow (4T MS unit)
• Frequently floats between Stepdown and Med Surg/Tele units
• Stepdown patient ratio is 1:4-5 and Med Surg ratio is 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule includes weekdays and every other weekend
• Holiday coverage required in rotation with staff
• Uses Meditech EMR system

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of med surg nursing experience required
• PCU/stepdown experience required due to frequent floating to that unit
• IV start skills required
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required

• Must be comfortable working in both Stepdown and Med Surg/Tele capacities
• High patient-to-caregiver ratios and frequent floating within the hospital should be expected
• Floating occurs in rotation with staff and includes appropriate orientation to new units per Joint Commission standards
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• First-time travelers are accepted for this role
• Facility will not accept candidates with any license or background hits
• Previous employees must have been gone for at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be considered
• Royal blue/white scrubs required and are not provided by the facility
• RTO must be approved prior to assignment start with minimal to no time off requested, especially avoiding the first weeks of the assignment
