American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Stepdown RN for a night shift assignment requiring SC or compact RN license and 2+ years of med surg experience with frequent floating.

• Med Surg unit that frequently floats to PCU/Stepdown and other MS/Tele units
• Stepdown patient ratios of 1:4-5 and Med Surg ratios of 1:5-6
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 7:15
• Schedule includes weekdays, every other weekend, floating, and holidays as needed
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Pediatric patients are not assigned to travelers without pediatric experience

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of med surg experience required
• Stepdown/PCU experience required in addition to med surg experience
• IV start skills required
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
• Must be comfortable floating frequently between med surg and stepdown units
• No license or background history issues accepted

• Provide nursing care across med surg, stepdown/PCU, and telemetry patient populations
• Floating occurs within a single hospital and follows Joint Commission standards, including appropriate orientation to the new unit
• Holiday and weekend coverage required in rotation with staff
• Scrubs are royal blue/white and not provided by the facility
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Previous employees must have been gone at least 1 year and left in good standing to be considered
• Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
