American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Stepdown RN for a night shift position requiring SC or compact RN license and 2 years of med surg experience.

• 22-bed adult Med Surg Oncology unit (5T)
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00)
• 13-week contract with possible extension
• Frequent floating between Med Surg, Stepdown, and MS/Tele units required
• Stepdown ratios of 1:4-5 and Med Surg ratios of 1:5-6
• Schedule includes weekdays, every other weekend, and holidays as needed
• Uses Meditech EMR

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (ACLS and NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of med surg experience required
• Stepdown/PCU experience required due to floating requirements
• IV start skills required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required

• Care for adult med surg oncology patients with frequent floating to stepdown and telemetry units
• Must be comfortable with high patient-to-caregiver ratios and frequent floating within the hospital
• Floating occurs in rotation with staff and includes appropriate orientation to new units per Joint Commission standards
• Scrubs not provided; royal blue/white scrub color required
• Holiday and weekend coverage expected in rotation with staff
• Minimal to no RTO approved; any time off must be discussed and approved prior to assignment start
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Returning staff must have been in good standing and separated for at least 1 year
• Facility will not accept candidates with license or background issues
