American Traveler is hiring an RN - ICU/Critical Care Float for a night shift stepdown role requiring frequent floating to ICU and Med Surg units and prior PCU/ICU experience.
Details- Critical Care Float position in a 21-bed stepdown unit that frequently floats to ICU and Med Surg units
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- Patient ratios:
Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, Med Surg 1:5-6 - Manages non-titrating cardiac drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
- Cares for vascular patients (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, and post cardiac catheterization with intervention patients
- Manages CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan (no Precedex)
- Performs peritoneal dialysis and coordinates hemodialysis through the Dialysis Department
- Manages stable BiPAP, heated high-flow oxygen under 80%, and home ventilators (Trilogy)
- Provides wound care and nebulizer treatments
- Uses Meditech EMR
- Floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and Med Surg units
- Every other weekend required
- Weekly Wednesday orientation sessions
- Active SC or Compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of PCU, stepdown, or ICU experience required
- ICU experience required due to frequent floating to ICU units
- Meditech charting experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
- Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and tracheostomy management
- Experience with cardiac drip titration and dysrhythmia management preferred
- Comfortable with frequent floating across multiple unit types
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Royal blue and white scrubs required
- Holiday and weekend coverage expected in rotation with staff
- Floating occurs within a single hospital in accordance with facility and Joint Commission floating policies, including orientation to new units
- Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
- Previous employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be considered
- Community hospital experience and previous charge experience preferred
