Position: Senior Project Manager – Construction (Land Development & Restoration)

About the Job

Bancroft Construction Services (BCS) is building a talent pipeline for upcoming Construction Project Manager needs, anticipated in the first and second quarters. This posting is intended to identify and engage qualified professionals who are interested in joining BCS as project demand increases.

Position Summary

The Project Manager – Construction will be responsible for managing land development, restoration, and infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with project specifications, schedules, budgets, and environmental permits. The Project Manager will coordinate with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies to successfully deliver projects on time and within scope.

This position requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to make informed decisions in active construction environments. Approximately 50% travel is required to support oversight and coordination across multiple project sites throughout Southern California.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan, manage, and oversee construction projects related to land development, site improvements, and environmental restoration
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, scopes of work, and resource allocation
  • Coordinate pre-construction activities including permitting, contractor selection, subcontractor coordination, and project planning
  • Oversee construction activities through regular site visits to ensure compliance with design plans, specifications, safety requirements, and environmental permit conditions
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, engineers, inspectors, and regulatory agencies
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks or delays, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Review contractor submittals, change orders, invoices, and progress reports
  • Ensure environmental compliance requirements are integrated into construction activities and schedules
  • Conduct site visits, progress meetings, and coordination meetings with project stakeholders across multiple project locations
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and closeout materials
  • Support business development efforts through project planning, cost estimating, and proposal support as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, land development, or environmental restoration projects
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time to multiple project sites throughout Southern California
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing land development, grading, drainage, and restoration projects
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting and compliance requirements (CEQA, NEPA, CWA, CESA, FESA)
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams including engineers, biologists, inspectors, and contractors
  • Strong understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, and cost control
  • Proficiency with project management software and construction documentation tools
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or CCM (preferred, not required)
  • This is a hybrid position involving both office-based work and field activities and may include:
  • Approximately 50% travel to active construction and restoration project sites throughout Southern California
  • Working around heavy equipment and active construction operations
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions and uneven terrain
  • Driving between multiple project sites on a regular basis
  • Candidates must be able to safely perform site visits and field coordination duties.
