Job Summary As a member of the Financial Services department, Accountant II plays a key role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the University’s financial records. This position performs professional-level accounting functions, including financial analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries. Accountant II also supports accounts receivable research, investment transaction recording and reconciliation, the treasury/banking operations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills to assist with monthly and manual financial reporting and ensure compliance with state regulations and institutional policies.
EssentialJob Functions Financial Reconciliation & Reporting
- Perform reconciliations of the general ledger and trial balance, including cash balance determination, and reconcile system-of-record data with secondary systems.
- Prepare and process journal entries accurately and within required timelines.
- Trace and verify financial transactions to ensure accuracy, completeness and proper recording.
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable activities, including research and issue resolution.
- Maintain accurate and timely general ledger entries for all investment-related transactions and perform related reconciliations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a related business major or a combination of education, experience and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
- Two years in accounting/business office experience.
- Four (4) years of business experience.
- Four (4) years of ERP experience.
- Excel and Database management experience
- Familiarity with MS Excel, Word & Outlook
- Able to analyze & reconcile accounts and data sets
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
- Effective Communication skills
Able to lift 25 lbs. and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings.
Job ConditionsDuties are typically performed within a professional office environment. Standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional extended hours based on reporting deadlines.
