The Accountant reports to the Executive Director of Student Business Services with latitude for technical judgement in accomplishment of most phases of work. The Accountant performs professional advanced accounting work with administrative responsibility for all aspects of capital and property. This position requires a strong knowledge of accounting and higher education policies.
Duties / Responsibilities- Reconciles various accounts.
- Maintains Capital Assets in Banner Fixed Assets. Performs all property management duties such as tagging and safeguarding assets.
- Performs data entry of inventory items and reconciles inventory systems with ledger for capital and equipment purchases.
- Performs annual physical inventory for the campus.
- Stays apprised of GASB rules and regulations. Reports Unclaimed Liabilities.
- Assists with grant tracking, budget data entry, check voids, USAS batch processing, and other USAS transactions.
- Assists with reporting requests for internal and external audiences and with audits; supports implementation of audit responses.
- Assists in handling special projects and in developing or revising procedures within the Business Office.
- Other duties as assigned.
- MINIMUM EDUCATION/
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Ability to interpret and apply accounting theory to transactions; to work accurately with numerical detail; and to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data. - PREFERRED EDUCATION/
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Experience working in accounting in higher education or a state agency.
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents and equipment; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment.
