Job SummaryThe Student Worker’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing general office/departmental support, such as those tasks listed below, and assisting the team with any other related duties, as assigned. LIT supports the academic success of its Student Worker employees, so the work schedule will accommodate the individual’s school schedule while meeting business needs and while providing an opportunity to gain experience in the work environment, within the Student Worker's degree program of choice.
This is a non-exempt position.
- Filing, making copies, faxing, shredding and scanning
- Data entry
- Document creation and/or maintenance, using programs such as Word and Excel
- May assist with department and/or student events
- Department customer service – greeting and assisting office guests, campus visitors, etc.
- Answer phones, receive and sort mail
- Other related duties, as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a currently enrolled student of Lamar Institute of Technology, or of any other local Lamar College/University
- Comfortable with performing work independently and with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge with Microsoft Word and Excel, and other commonly-used computer programs and applications
- Familiar with using copier, scanner, fax, and computer
- Able to work in an office environment between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday;
Total hours worked per week may not exceed 19.75 hours per week
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to: remain in a stationary position for most of the time; occasionally move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine; and occasionally move boxes/product weighing up to 50 pounds across the office/student event spaces.
