Join the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) Child Support Division (CSD) in our mission to promote responsible parenting and ensure children in Texas receive the support they need. Child Support Technicians (CSTs) perform case initiation, docket coordination, legal support, and other technical support tasks. They may assist in training others and provide high-level customer service. CSTs gain valuable legal support experience as part of a team dedicated to supporting Texas children and families.

Responsibilities include:
- Opening cases on the Texas Child Support Enforcement System (TXCSES), checking for duplicates, assessing case validity, requesting missing information, and forwarding cases to Child Support Officers.
- Preparing cases for court, including filing pleadings, setting dockets, and attending court as needed.
- Coordinating and monitoring paternity tests, processing results.
- Entering, retrieving, and updating case information on TXCSES.
- Monitoring databases for new or updated locate information.
- Verifying employment and locate information using available sources.
- Handling child support payments and preparing reports.
- Researching court orders and responding to routine inquiries.
- Managing incoming mail and documents, assisting with seminars, and indexing documents.
- Maintaining virtual files for accuracy and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; or completion of two years of college (60 credit hours); relevant experience may substitute for education.
- Proficiency in computer use, communication, judgment, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in person at the assigned location, lift 30 lbs., and travel up to 5%.
- Typing speed of 30 WPM required.
Preferred: Proficiency in punctuation, grammar, spelling, and Spanish language skills.
