CMT Field Technician

Job Description

As a CMT Field Technician
, you’ll play a hands‑on role in delivering safe, high‑quality construction projects across Southeast Texas. You’ll work in the field collecting and documenting material test data that helps ensure roads, structures, and developments are built to specification and standards. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys fieldwork, takes pride in accuracy, and wants to build a long‑term career in construction materials testing.

• Performs construction‑related field tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Manager and Senior Engineer.
• Travels to various construction sites primarily throughout the Southeast Texas area with the potential for overnight and/or weekend as needed.
• Relays information to project manager and/or engineer, with limited in‑field decision making.
• Transports equipment, test specimens and/or documents to field personnel, laboratory, clients or other offices, and provides physical assistance in equipment set‑up.
• Enters daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically.
• Performs field quality control tests of in place concrete.
• Performs field density testing on soil, also perform concrete, asphalt and other construction materials testing.
• Assists other technicians or professional staff on tasks and assists other departments as necessary.
• Follows Atlas’ safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures.

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• TXDOT or ACI certifications required.
• Willing to learn and work any shift that is needed.
• Familiar with Excel, and ability to learn new systems such as TXDOT Site Manager.
• Ability to communicate well, and problem solve under pressure while adhering to project specifications.
• Ability to travel, 25% of the time.
