News Producer

Overview

KFDM has an immediate opening for a creative News Producer. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day production of newscasts and will work closely with the Executive Producer, Director, Assignment Desk and Anchors on the newscast and its content.

• Determine the content and flow of newscasts.
• Collaborate with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories.
• Develop and maintain content for the web site.
• Coordinate with the Editorial team to ensure accurate and compelling news coverage.

• Solid news judgment.
• Compelling and accurate writing skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage time to produce an exciting and informative newscast.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Capacity to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts.
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient with non-linear editing (e.g., Avid) and newsroom systems such as iNews.

• At least some previous news-producing experience at a commercial TV station; entry-level candidates considered.
• Journalism degree preferred.
